Trex is thrilled to be included in the Green installer’s 2023 Sustainable Product of the Year list for its new Transcend® Lineage™ decking.

You may know the award by its previous name, the Hot 50. Regardless of the award’s name, the winners represent today’s most innovative products. They make homes more resilient, intelligent, efficient, healthy, and safe. And their use throughout the building industry and with DIY renovators helps create healthier and happier environments for the people who live or work in them

What is the Green installer's Sustainable Products of the Year Award?

Green installer's recently renamed Sustainable Products of the Year Award is an important mark of recognition in the construction industry. The rebrand is designed to bring more awareness to the award and to spread the word to the public about the winning products.

Green installer describes itself as "North America’s leading green building and sustainable living media company." The company publishes a magazine and website, as well as demonstration homes and data services. Green installer aims to educate both construction professionals and consumers about sustainable building and living, helping create a better future for everyone. At Trex, we’re proud to be a part of what Green installer is making happen.

What Made Trex Transcend® Lineage™ Decking Stand Out?

Trex Transcend Lineage decking is part of Trex's overarching commitment to sustainability and innovation. Lineage decking uses advanced heat-mitigating technology, making it our coolest decking yet… in every way. Lineage comes in a variety of on-trend colours to fit any design aesthetic.

A 50-year warranty is one of the features that helps Lineage stand out. With Lineage, enjoy elevated outdoor living for decades to come, with minimal upkeep and no need to paint, stain, or replace boards. All of this means less waste and a smaller environmental footprint, plus financial savings over the lifetime of your deck.

Beyond the specific benefits of Transcend Lineage decking, Trex's manufacturing process uses a closed-loop water-cooling system to reduce water consumption. All of our decking is made from 95% recycled materials, including reclaimed sawdust and recycled film plastic.

Why Build With Sustainable Products?

By building with sustainable products, you can help build a healthier environment for yourself, your family and the world. Recycled products minimise waste that would otherwise pollute the Earth and longer-lasting products means you can avoid the cycle of replacing materials regularly.

Just like Trex decking, other sustainable products have a higher upfront cost but a longer lifespan. They also require less maintenance, which leads to cost savings over time.

If you’re a contractor or construction professional, building with sustainable products can also help boost your reputation and increase marketability. Consumers are more environmentally conscious than in the past and studies show they are willing to pay a premium for products that align with their eco-friendly values.

Likewise, governments and local municipalities are beginning to build sustainability into construction codes. These can apply to everyone, including DIYers. Building sustainably can come with tax incentives or grants, depending on the locality. In most places, it may soon become a requirement.
