Given that grilling is one of their family's favourite cooking styles (if you tried their signature smash burgers, you would understand why) and their upper deck was the only way to access their guest house, updating their outdoor space was a top priority.

Their deteriorating wood deck was resurfaced with a low-maintenance, composite decking from Trex Transcend® line in the colour, Island Mist. "I had seen Trex on Decks.com  and I know it's the most well-known brand with the best reputation. At this point in my life, this was the most important factor to me" said Aeric. Their rails also got updated from wood to aluminium Signature® railing. "We love it. Its matches so well with the house paint job and black roof. It's a perfect match."

What was the process like?

Aeric shares, "I like the consistency in the product. You don’t have to pick through boards to find the best wood. I can use every board. And the clip system is so cool. It went down fast." Aeric goes on later to share that building the deck with friends was actually his favourite memory on the deck so far.

What is life with Trex like?

"I like that the deck is more a part of the home because it's so nice." Aeric shares that later this summer, they are hosting an intimate wedding in the backyard. With 4 tables of 8 guests each on the lower deck, they have the perfect space to celebrate the happy couple.
