Every year, Trex seeks to give back to local communities. We invest in community projects and encourage recycling through our community and school outreach programs.

Our aim? To build a better tomorrow together.

Learn Together

In 2020, Trex helped more than 2,500 community groups recycle approximately 850 thousand pounds of plastic waste. We collaborated with community groups and schools to educate participants about the importance of recycling. It’s all about spreading knowledge on what to do with plastic waste.

Take Action

We make it easy for retailers, distributors, brand owners and consumers to responsibly dispose of unwanted plastic waste. By connecting program participants with our NexTrex® store collection program, they can make a difference by dropping off plastic film at one of our approximately 32,000 collection locations. The plastic is sent to our warehouses, where we process it in the United States into new Trex products.

Investing in Our Communities

Trex supports charitable organizations that serve our local communities. We donate funds and volunteer to help the non-profits that tackle pressing needs in the communities where we operate.

Glowing Gold

In 2020, we continued our longstanding partnership with United Way of Northern Shenandoah Valley. United Way runs local initiatives to improve health, education and financial stability. By matching employee donations, we donated $191,000 to our local branch in Virginia and were honored to receive a Gold Award from United Way recognizing Trex as the branch’s largest contributor.

Supporting Veterans

Trex is assisting military veterans and their families through our three-year partnership with Yellow Ribbon Fund. We’ll donate $180,000 by 2022 to provide housing, transport and family support to veterans, again matching employee donations dollar-for-dollar.

COVID-19 Relief

The COVID-19 pandemic saw our communities face new challenges. It’s estimated that 45 million people may have faced food insecurity in the United States during 2020 in the wake of the pandemic. Trex responded by donating $120,000 from sales of decking samples to Feeding America, the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization.
