Industry Leader Remains Top in Brand Familiarity and Usage
WINCHESTER, Va., Sept. 10, 2010 – Trex Company, the leading manufacturer of wood alternative decking, railing and fencing, recently was recognised with four first-place rankings in Remodelling magazine’s 2010 Brand Use Study. Trex swept the Decking: Compositae and Vinyl category with top marks for brand familiarity, brand use and quality.
Trex boasts an 88 percent rating in the “Brand Familiarity” category. Additionally, 65 percent of study respondents reported having used a Trex product in the past two years – far surpassing the second-ranked brand (44 percent). Trex also is the brand used the most by respondents and the brand that industry professionals have used the most in the past two years and/or would consider using.
The Remodelling 2010 Brand Use Study – conducted by independent research company Readex Research – surveys in-depth the brands remodelers know best, the ones they use the most and the ones they rate the highest in quality. Compiling the opinions of more than 8,000 trade professionals, the study was conducted from April 12 – May 27, 2010 and published by Remodelling, a Hanley Wood publication that serves as a comprehensive information source for the home remodelling industry.
“Being recognised once again as a ‘brand leader’ by the thousands of remodelers and contractors who responded to this study is a clear indication that Trex continues to enjoy an unrivalled reputation within the industry,” said Ronald W. Kaplan, chairman, president and CEO of Trex. “We consistently strive to reinforce the inherent value of our brand and our products among trade partners – and this recognition proves that we are effectively communicating our core strengths of quality, innovation and service.”
Earlier this year, Trex also dominated the installer/Hanley Wood 2010 Brand Use Study, which surveyed more than 10,000 installers and contractors regarding their brand preferences in terms of familiarity, quality and frequency of usage. Trex captured the top spot in three prominent categories – “Brand Familiarity,” “Brand Used in the Past Two Years” and “Brand Used Most” – within the Decking: Compositae/PVC division. In that study, Trex received a 76 percent brand familiarity rating, nearly 20 points higher than the second-ranked brand.
More recently, Trex Transcend®, the company’s newest high-performance composite decking and railing collection, was honoured as a 2010 Most Valuable Product (MVP) by Hanley Wood’s Building Products magazine. Transcend was one of only 31 products selected from hundreds of entries to receive the award, and the only decking product to be recognised. The annual MVP awards highlight the best new products in the building industry, as selected by a panel of architects, installers and remodelers from across the country.
“Trex remains committed to setting the bar high for our competition and to introducing design and manufacturing innovations to the industry,” said Kaplan. “It’s very rewarding to know that our efforts are recognised by our valued professional partners.”
